Christopher C. Harris Travel Award for Graduates Students
The Eicosanoid Research Foundation established the Christopher C. Harris Travel Award for Graduate Students in memory of Christopher C. Harris (May 15, 1958 – November 18, 2015).
Mr. Harris was a remarkable organizer, fundraiser, meeting planner and talented entrepreneur. He had a gift for bringing individuals together and making friends around the world. He was the exclusive meeting organizer for the very successful international conference on Bioactive Lipids in Cancer, Inflammation and Related Diseases starting in Chicago (2003), San Francisco (2005), Montreal (2007), Cancun (2009), Seattle (2011), San Juan (2013), and Budapest (2015).
The 2017 meeting in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is dedicated in honor of Chris Harris. Friends and colleagues who wish to make a contribution towards the Christopher C. Harris Travel Award for Graduate Students in his memory may do so here:
Memories shared by friends and colleagues of Christopher Harris:
Krishna Rao Maddipati - Chris has been an integral part of our group and, of course, the Bioactive Lipids Conference series since 2005. His incessant attention to detail and his passion to go out of his way to help others, especially the graduate students, is the memory that is etched in our memory for a long time. He is surely missed by the Conference series.
John Durham - truly one of the most generous, caring, people, a good good man with incredible heart
Kho Kashfi - Chris always referred to Nikki as his wife and whenever we caught up with him, he used to ask Nikki to take a picture with him. He used to say, everyone thinks that she is really my wife. We miss him dearly and this year coming to the meeting knowing that Chris will not be there will be difficult for all who knew him.
Miriam Greenberg - Chris was one in a million.
Mike Tucker - Thank you for everything you were a great friend you will truly be missed by all! ~Mother Tucker
Nick Kinder - Chris was instrumental in helping me to get the life experience that I believe helped me get into medical school. He had no reason to help me and introduce me to mentors such as Dr. Honn, but he did so from a selfless heart. I am glad to contribute to the fund in his memory and I hope the conference is as much of a success as the Budapest one was. RIP Chris and thank you.
Gabor Tigyi - I miss Chris VERY much.
Milda Simonaitis - I am forever grateful to Chris for his patience and generosity. Such a heartbreaking loss to not have him with us anymore.
Fazyl Kechai - I miss you Big Daddy
Keqin Tang and Bill Repaskey - A wonderful friend and colleague who will be dearly missed!!
Richard Phipps - Chris will be sorely missed. A thoughtful, hard working, smart human being. And, a tough negotiator!
Charles Serhan - Chris's contributions to our field go beyond words. He was a positive force for each meeting and during the year planning for the success of each event. I always enjoyed seeing Chris at the meetings and enjoyed his command of the scene. A great loss for us all.
Yusuf Hannun and Lina Obeid - Chris will always be in our hearts.
Darryl Zeldin - Chris has touched all of us in the eicosanoid research community. He will be greatly missed.
Kenneth V. Honn - Organizing this meeting was Chris's legacy. We attribute much of its success to him! He is truly missed.
